Emily Smith, MD
I was born in Winston Salem, but spent most of my childhood growing up in Hickory, NC. I attended Appalachian State University for college (where I met my husband, Lee!), followed by East Carolina University for medical school. Lee and I were married at the end of medical school, and we began our first adventure together by moving to Nashville, TN for my pediatric training at Vanderbilt. We loved Nashville but always knew that North Carolina was home. We moved back after residency and are so thankful to now be in Winston! We have four children, three daughters and one son. For fun, we love to visit the mountains of NC, garden and raise chickens, and spend time with our family and friends.
I decided to become a doctor in college; from the beginning I knew I wanted to do primary care. I love getting to know families over time, and watching my patients grow! I am so thankful to have such a rewarding job!
I have participated in supplemental training through the REACH Institute, an organization dedicated to ensuring that the most effective, scientifically proven mental health care reaches all children and families.
